Official Contestant Handbook
INTRODUCTION
This is designed to help you prepare for competition and answer any questions you may have about this year’s pageant. Please read this information carefully.
This year’s pageant will take place at ROAR, located at 621 Culver Road in Rochester, New York. Registration and the pageant will take place day of, Sunday, October 4th, 2020.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
The rules and regulations listed below are to be followed at all times. This applies to all contestants, their dancers, and assistants.
ANY RULE OR REGULATION THAT IS BROKEN BY ANY CONTESTANT, DANCER, OR ASSISTANT WILL BE CAUSE FOR DISMISSAL FROM THE PAGEANT AND FORFEITURE OF THE ENTRY FEE.
1. Contestants must have reached the age of 21 and be able to show proof of age.
2. The use or dispensing of illegal drugs will not be tolerated.
3. Do not take or borrow anything that does not belong to you. If caught, you will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
4. The uses of fire, water, or glitter are prohibited during any part of the competition.
5. Mr. & Miss Diamond Strength pageant reserves the right to make a decision concerning any matter not covered in these rules and regulations.
6. Any contestant or associates who cause harm or abuse, whether verbal, or physical shall be barred from competing in the Mr. & Miss Diamond Strength Pageant forever. The individual will also forfeit any and all prize winnings.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Sunday October 4th, 2020:
12:00P-1:00P Registration
2:00P Contestants In
3:00P Doors Open
4:00P Pageant Begins
Contestant talent rehearsal will begin at 1pm; each contestant can be pre-assigned a 15 minute time slot during registration.
ITEMS TO BRING WITH YOU
You should bring a lighted make-up mirror and an extension cord as well as any additional lighting that you may need.
You should bring your own make-up cloth for applying and removal of make-up. These will not be available at the venue.
Please remember, space is limited so only bring what you will need. Individual electric outlets are not guaranteed, so you will probably be sharing, so please keep thing in mind when you are preparing your station.
You will be allowed one (1) person, normally a dresser, backstage free of charge. Should you need a second (2nd) dresser backstage, a 2nd dresser badge may be purchased during registration for $5.00.
POINT SYSTEM
TALENT 1-10 points
Talent will be based on:

Execution of talent (dance steps, lip-sync, vocal presentation, etc.)

Production and background dancers should be in sync with the main entertainer (contestant)

Entertainment factor to the judges
-
Prop appropriateness and quality
Talent should not exceed 7 minutes (2.5 minutes set-up, 2.5 minutes break down)
A back up CD must be turned in at registration.
Contestant back up dancers are not allowed in the dressing area until at least 2 numbers prior to their contestant. Points will be deducted from the contestants talent score if this rule is violated.
CREATIVE FORMALWEAR 1-10 points

Any color and style of your choice may be worn however it must be clearly tailored as formalwear

The judges will judge you on fit (length and size), style, hair, make-up, and overall total look. Your formalwear should reflect your personality.

Rhinestones and other adornments are optional.

Gowns must be floor length
ON STAGE QUESTION 1-10 points
Contestants will be required to compete in on-stage question. The emcee will have questions submitted by the judges & will ask them in order at the podium. The emcee will read the contestant their chosen question twice and the contestant will have three (3) minutes to respond. The process will continue until all contestants have answered their chosen on-stage question.
Please remember, space is limited so only bring what you will need. Individual electric outlets are not guaranteed, so you will probably be sharing, so please keep thing in mind when you are preparing your station.

HOST HOTEL
While it is not required that you stay here, information for the 2020 Mr. & Miss Diamond Strength host hotel will be posted shortly.
PRIZES AND AWARDS
Category Awards will be given as follows:
- Best Creative Formalwear
- Best On Stage Question
- Best Talent
Cash and prizes will be awarded as follows:
WINNER:
* $300 - Cash upon crowning
* $50 - Cash/deposit upon the completion of one (1) community service event, held during your reign, in the name of the pageant
* $50 - Cash/deposit upon the completion of one (1) fundraiser, held during your reign, in the name of the pageant
* $100 - Cash upon crowning the new Mr. & Miss Diamond Strength, the following year. Winner is responsible for his/her own transportation fare upon returning to crown the new winners.
1st Alternate: $100 in cash

The contestant will choose one (1) envelope and hand that envelope to the emcee. The emcee will open the envelope revealing a judge number and name. The corresponding judge will then read the contestant their chosen question twice and the contestant will have three (3) minutes to respond. The process will continue until all contestants have answered their chosen on-stage question.
